Blitz grew up in a Buddhist monetary in Japan. He trained in basic Buddhist doctrines and courtesy up to high school. Through his religious studies and experiences he reached the second to last level of Buddhist priesthood which is a career in community development. He remains dedicated to the Buddhist philosophy which includes respect for others and self-insight. When he was 19 years old, he visited Nepal for a volunteer project to establish a language school for locals. He performed fundamental research and taught Japanese to Nepalese. This month-stay in Nepal guided him towards education for undeserved communities. He came to the US for college in 2003. He holds a degree in International Development Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. His focus was on community development in Latin America. While he was in school, he explored Latin American countries. He organized a group trip to Puno, Peru with 14 students volunteered at local kindergarten and reconstructed a natural adobe wall. He also has an teaching internship experience in Cochabamba, Bolivia with a local women’s shelter NGO, INFANTE. He taught various subjects there: english, math and music to children and organized various workshops for women such as hand crafts, meditation and Japanese dance. He won a grant to build a greenhouse to provide sustainable income for the shelter and the organization.
