Who are you and what do you do?
I am me. I find ways to see the world while doing good. I love Mother Nature and I treat her with respect and compassion. It’s my personal calling to

What is important to you in this world?
Peace, compassion, equality. Sharing ideas and opinions, staying humble and grateful, giving back to those who have less than you and friends and family. Experiencing new cultures and embracing their beliefs and traditions. Hiking mountains, sailing the seas, swimming in rivers, meditating in temples, shopping in markets……living sustainably.

Your childhood dream; your adult dream?
My childhood dream……working with monkeys. My adult dream……to split my years on a sailboat and on the land. Sailboat charters and island clean up programs half the year and living minimally, in the woods, off the land with green gardens, solar showers, and solitude. Opening an organic, vegetarian restaurant, selling goods in farmers markets, guiding people on backcountry hikes and canoe trips, a retreat with teepees, yurts, and cabins……we’ll see what opportunities arise.

What inspires you about TEMA and why are you contributing?
Community action, cultural exchanges, living communally and minimally, new friendships with like-minded individuals, a common vision, conscious minds and conscious actions

What are you passionate about?
Mother Earth and Earth’s children

What is your favorite food?
Fruit and vegetables. I love mangos. I love nuts. Avocados are pretty delicious. Indian food is tasty but Sushi is by far the deal breaker. I haven’t eaten any meat for years but when you catch a fish out on the open seas I can’t turn it down. Food doesn’t get fresher than that…..unless it’s a tomato off the vine….then that’s pretty good to.

Have you ever left the country?
Over two years spent in Malawi, Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Zambia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, all over Mexico, Nicaragua, sailed through the Panama Canal, San Blas Islands, Bahamas….I think that about covers it

What is your educational background?
A degree in Recreation Administration and a double minor in Business Administration and Peace and Conflict Resolution from Humboldt State University. Coursework completed towards a Masters in Ecotourism.

Tell an extremely memorable moment.
Teaching sign language to deaf children in Malawi, Africa. For a year I worked with these kids to create a cohesive language combining American Sign Language, ‘village’ sign (which they had created out of survival), and the local dialect Chichewa. These 25 kids embraced me and became so protective of me that when other kids came around they would shield me from them! ……..Diving off a sailboat into the dark azure waters of the Yucatan Deep while a sperm whale and her calf were swimming circles around us was pretty epic too

Tell us a joke.
What did the vegetarian gangster say when his toe was stepped on?
“That’s my ToFu”
