Here and Beyond…

For those of us who are alive today in this present moment we can all agree that things are moving faster than ever before and times are changing. Right now, we are electing a new president, gas prices are fluctuating more than ever, people are losing their homes, and the world economy is going down the tubes. In order to thrive under these new conditions we must evolve and evolving we are The evolution of technology has enabled us to do incredible things and reach incredible heights and in today’s globalized world we are using it to connect on a new level. While not everything is clear cut, the truth is that we are moving forward fast. If we can educate and be educated, inspire and be inspired, and embrace this new era then we have the opportunity to live in a more harmonious world.

This past weekend, Ulises and I were lucky enough to attend the 2012 Conference in San Francisco. The intention of this conference, as stated on the website, www.2012conference.org, is to take the subject matter of 2012 and the leading authors of this evolving movement to a higher level of awareness and to bring together a community embracing the magnitude of the subject discerning facts and fallacies.” This three-day event was jam packed with information coming from different angles which all seemed to arrive at the same conclusion, this I will get to in a minute.

2012, what? The Return of the Quetzalcoatl (the feathered-serpent), the end of the Iron Age and beginning of another Golden Age, a shift in balance which begins with more reliance on intuition and less on rationalization. The bottom line is a shift is occurring. This shift does not take place in one moment, but over time. While some moments may hold greater significance than others it takes time for us to adapt to the changes as they happen around us. The Mayans, Hopis, and tribes in India have all written into their ancient histories and calendars that 2012 (December 21st, to be more specific) marks an important time in human history. A time when this shift embraces humanity and humanity embraces it. A time when barriers are broken using the tools and skills of today. As we open up to the possibilities of this new era we must think how we can change ourselves, create community, and adapt to our surroundings.

The Extra Mile Adventure is a vehicle operating under these guidelines and most of us don’t even know it. Here we are a bunch of young, ambitious, creative people with similar visions and strong desires to follow our hearts. We are connecting via the internet and have been granted access to such amazing things like solar panels, bio-diesel, and an old school bus. One person standing alone could not do such a thing, this takes community, a community much greater than just those riding on the bus.

Using our skills and resources from here we are on course to depart Dec 1st !! The support so far from both here and there has been amazing. People here, we don’t even know, are providing generous donations of time, money, and goods. And those down south in Mexico and Central America have offered to accommodate us with open arms. This is 2008 and we are taking positive steps towards a bright 2012. This is action and it inspires me to be a part of it and to be alive.

The Conference has provided me with a better understanding of where we are at, at this time, in history and with inspiration as to how to move into the future. It feels as if The Extra Mile Adventure is off to a great start!!!!
