Carving the Nile out of the land with our bare hands.

Carving the Nile out of the land with our bare hands:

On Monday, November 3.  The eve of the most influential election of all time.  We came together via the airwaves of the United States of America to obliterate the roadblock that lay before us.  We had chosen our bus.  A beautiful work of art that had already delivered an untold amount of wide eyed children to and from a public learning institution so that their brains could grow and they would be ready to face the unseen problems that previous generations had created and forced into their lives.  Now the bus would be used for an equal good.  To deliver us, the members of The Extra Mile Adventure to the communities of  good hearted people in need to assist in what every way humanly possible.

There was just one problem.  Liability.  The American Way of Lawsuits.  How much would we have to pay to be insured, and if anything were to happen, who would the responsibility fall upon?  As it is set up our parent organization Inner Circle would shoulder all the responsibility and that just isn’t gonna fly. The meeting opened up with the presentation of the four options that we had involving transportation:

1) The bus and the unity and togetherness that would provide.

2) Public Transportation and the raw scary adventure of public traveling.

3) 5 or 6 private cars/vans and the uncertainty of 6 separate mechanical beings.

4) Chartering a bus and the luxury of having an experienced Central American road technician behind the wheel

It was immediately determined that having a bus and being together as a group would be the deal breaker. Once that was determined we set out goals for us to achieve.  We needed to find out how much it would cost to insure the bus.  What we needed to do to set ourselves up as a separate organization with our own tax ID number.   How to transfer our non-profit status to the new organization.  Where the liability falls in the new organization should, god forbid, any thing happens and any lawsuits do actually occur.

What we could use is some good legal advice.  If you have any please get in contact with us as soon as possible and you will be eternally blessed with good Karma and happiness.  These are the basic questions we need answered:

We got a bus that is full of 18 passengers going to make a difference through community outreach in mexico, guatamala, and el salvador. It is a 1991, 35 foot crown school bus. 6v92 detroit diesel
How do we create an entity that stands alone legally?
How can we protect the officers/executives that create the entity?
How can we still be able to get tax exempt status?
How do we protect ourselves in the foriegn countries?
Basically, how do we get this together so we can drive the bus down there and back and be covered?

The meeting was ended with a quote from George Bernard Shaw

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy
